Balance between form and function with building mass.

Located amidst a quiet residential area, the project was a dream home for our clients, with a family of four with a site area of 1200sqft. The family wanted a minimalistic home with a hint of natural elements. Client requirements were a 1BHK flat on the ground floor with a car parking facility and a duplex with 3bedrooms on the upper floors. This home was designed to suit the needs of the family, in a budget-friendly manner. Light and good ventilation were the main focus for our clients.

Building Facade was designed based on the play of form and function with the requirement of some outdoor spaces. We’ve played around with the heights of various roof levels to create depth in the mass of the building. Play of heights also played key role in creating cozy outdoor spaces, like the balcony, and sit out.

Keeping Lighting and ventilation in mind, we have positioned skylights in utility, master bedrooms and master bath areas located on the first floor to bring in sunlight to those dark corners of the house. A vertically grilled skylight has been designed over the staircase within the duplex to bring in natural light and create a play of patterns on the walls during different times of the day.

An earthen-toned color palette has been maintained throughout the facade, and also use of clay brick tiles for elevation design.

Use of concrete finishing for the facade to bring in a raw sense of design and create a sense of interest amidst the boring residential neighborhood. The facade is also treated with elements of glass pergola roof, to create a sense of porosity in the design. The interiors are kept very minimal with a hint of sober colored accent walls in each space.
