Life is a rollercoaster ride filled with success and failure in equal parts. When there are low points in life, there will always be highs. Life is a balance of positive and negative experiences. “Winning or losing, it all depends on how you balance the risk.” This is a quote by Rabi and life is a risk, right?

Below are 20 signs to watch out for, that can guide you to stay on your path towards success and happiness.
You wake up every day happy and excited to start a new day
We all have those lazy days, where you don’t have the interest to do anything or even get out of bed. All you want to do is eat junk food, lay in bed, and binge-watch your favorite tv show. As much as I love doing this once in a while, it’s not a good sign to feel this way every single day. Having a sense of excitement, purpose, and happiness towards the day helps you be productive and focus on your goals and aspirations. It is essential to feel happy and excited to start your day, every day to win in life and build a positive attitude towards life.
You have accepted yourself for who you are
You know your triggers. Things that make you happy or sad, you are aware of your strengths and weaknesses, and you’ve made peace with them. Having an understanding of your own self helps you set achievable goals and achieve them. Self-Acceptance is the key to success in today's world.
You know what is good for you and stay away from things that are not
We all have an idea of what triggers us and what sends us into bad moods. Knowing these trigger points you are capable of avoiding situations that are not good for your mentally and physically.
You know what you want in life
We all have vague ideas of what we want or need in life but having clear images of what you want in life is what defines success for you rather than just imagining a few random things. Say for example you dream of owning a certain car in a certain color, knowing this is exactly what you want in life will motivate you to work really hard towards being successful and make the money that is required to buy that car you’ve dreamt of. So, knowing what you want in life is a clear sign that you have your goals and ambitions set and you’re on your way to success.
You see the big picture
This is a really important behavior that all of us need to practice. We all have shitty days where you feel like you’re going nowhere in life, everything you’re doing is worth nothing, and none of your goals are attainable. It is on days like these that we lose sight of the bigger picture, and lose track and lose interest in our journey. Make it a practice to always think of the big picture when you’re facing such negative emotions regarding your goals, dreams, and life in general.
You know the true meaning of ‘friend’
Gone are those days where you had 20 to 30 best friends, lol. Those were the days in college, where everything was perfect, didn’t have to worry about work, earning money, making a living. All friendships and relationships looked perfect during that period of your life. But then comes the days once you start working and start living your life, where you cannot make time to meet your friends and chill with them all the time when you have other priorities. These are times when you actually understand who your true friends are. These hard times are the ones that show you who’s willing to stick with you when things get tough. You know and understand the true meaning of friend only when your start being one.
You’re not trying to be perfect, instead, you’re focussing more on progress than perfection
I think this is something that our generation struggles with. We all are growing up in the Instagram world, where everything is perfect, everyone’s outfit is perfect, everyone’s work life is perfect, everyone’s families and friends are perfect, but one thing we fail to understand is that all of that is an illusion. There is no such thing as a perfect life. Nobody’s life is perfect.
The only thing closest to perfection in anyone’s life is progress. Practice makes a man perfect, it’s the same logic with progress. The more progress you have and proceed towards your goals and dreams, the closer you get to this illusion of perfection. Perfection is very subjective and my version of perfection differs from your version of perfection. The moment you start choosing progress over perfection, life becomes a lot easier and more tolerable and your goals and dreams seem more attainable.
You have something in your house that you have to feed/water/nurture
It can be a pet, plants, parents, siblings, kids, or something that needs your care and attention in your house. This creates a sense of responsibility in us and develops nurturing instincts in us and turn, helps us be more responsible towards life in general.
You’re open to learning new skills and acquiring knowledge-
Only when you learn new skills can you succeed in this world where we have something new that’s invented or discovered every minute. Learning new things keeps our curiosity fueled.
Human beings by nature are very curious animals and it’s because of this curious nature that we love to gossip about other human beings so much, lol. Always be open to learning new things and gain more knowledge, you never know when and where an idea can pop up and that idea makes you the next millionaire. You never know right?
You try and make sustainable choices wherever possible
In the 21st century, this has become the most necessary choice that our generation has to make, for our future generations to have the natural resources that we have. Whenever possible try to make sustainable choices. It can as simple as carrying a water bottle from home and refiling it instead of buying a new bottle of water every time and increase plastic waste that ends up getting dumped in the ocean. We all love clean and crystal clear beaches right, why not give the same experience for our future generations too by doing a small bit.
Your relationships are less dramatic than they used to be
A lot of us are overthinkers by nature. We all end up creating multiple dramatic situations in our head over a simple misunderstanding or arguments with our parents, siblings, relationships and end up creating very dramatic experiences for all of us. As time has passed in each of your relationships, you have grown towards understanding the other person, their emotions, trigger points and are less dramatic with your arguments or disagreements towards certain things.
You’re not afraid to ask for help
All of us have this fear of being treated less off if we ask someone for help. This is something that is imbibed in us since childhood that asking for help is a sign of weakness. But that’s totally wrong, when you don’t know something or need help with something asking for help is the most courageous thing one can do.
You’ve raised your standards
You no longer wish to hang out with people who drain your energy or are constantly cribbing about their job, their life, how everything in their life sucks, and in general how they’re unhappy with everything in their life. This is a very negative influence to have in life, being around people like this tends to bring down your enthusiasm towards life and overall make your life miserable too. Instead, try to be around people that are going to challenge you intellectually and help you grow. I mean we all crib about things sometimes but doing that every day, every minute is not okay. You know what kind of people you want to be surrounded with, and you choose to be around them and it’s normal for all of us to outgrow friendships that do not help us grow. Don’t feel guilty about it.
You appreciate yourself for the person you have become
If anyone had told me 10 years ago that I’d be writing blogs and putting out my opinions and thoughts on such a big platform, by putting myself out there, I would have just laughed. I truly cannot believe the person I have become today. I feel content, I am happy, I have set attainable goals, I have made peace with my past and I just love the person I am becoming and can’t wait to see who and what I’ll be 10 years from now.
You feel a sense of gratitude for where you are in life
Most of us tend to focus on the things that are going wrong in our life, rather than focusing on the things that are going in our favor. We tend to forget about the positive aspects and focus only on the negative aspects of life. We all need to practice showing gratitude towards the things you have in life, towards the people you have in your life and the luxuries you have in your life. You never know when one of these could disappear from your life. Always say thank you to the universe for giving you a blessed life. No matter how horrible your day was, there would at least be one thing you could show gratitude towards. I have a practice of saying thank you to the universe every night for all the things I have in life and for being lucky enough to be able to enjoy them/. Try doing this. If you don’t have anything specific to say, just say thank you and sleep.
You feel positive about the future
Whenever you think about, 10 years down the lane or 5 years down the lane, you don’t have a sense of doubt or fear, instead, you have confidence in yourself that by then you would have accomplished most of your dreams and goals and getting ready for new goals and dreams. Looking into the future doesn’t scare you, instead, it gives you a sense of positive excitement of waiting to see what the future holds for you.
You feel content and lucky with your family and relationships that you have
We all have moments where we fight and hate our families, but at the end of the day we all make up for it with all the good memories we have with them and the love we have towards our families, friends, and relationships. You feel lucky to have your parents as your parents and the things you’ve learned from them, and also the friends and memories you’ve made with them.
You don’t feel the need to prove yourself to others
Your sense of purpose and accomplishment is so high that you no longer feel the need to impress others with your achievements or prove your worth to them, instead you have the mindset of your work and goals speaking for themselves.
Your work is fulfilling and keeps you mentally engaged and challenges your IQ
According to my knowledge, three things define a fulfilling work life, the money you get paid for your work, work-life balance, and job satisfaction. If you have 2 among the three, then you have a fulfilling job that keeps your mind occupied and yet provided you the time and energy to focus on your goals and dreams.
You’ve overcome your past goals and dreams
Goals and dreams change and evolve as we evolve in life. I might have dreamt of becoming a doctor all my life during my childhood, but over time my goals and desires towards life have changed. I no longer wish you have a high-stress job as a doctor, instead, I wish to work remotely at the comfort of my home, earn good money, save and invest, and retire early. Dreams and aspirations keep changing, and this is what defines our growth and outlook towards life.
With that said, these are few signs that I felt are a clear sign of whether you're winning at life or you need to make some changes to your lifestyle to make your way through to success.
